Data Governance Specialist - GCC
Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Data Governance Specialist to support the implementation and oversight of enterprise-wide data governance practices. This role will focus on strengthening data quality, improving data integrity, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory obligations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating governance activities across business and technology teams, supporting data ownership frameworks, and promoting effective data management practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and oversee adherence to enterprise data governance frameworks, standards, and operational procedures.
Ensure data governance practices remain aligned with applicable regulatory obligations and industry best practices.
Monitor and assess data quality performance using automated controls, dashboards, and established KPIs.
Track and manage data quality incidents, coordinate root cause investigations, and oversee remediation activities with relevant stakeholders.
Maintain and validate data lineage across critical systems, data pipelines, and reporting environments.
Administer and enhance enterprise metadata repositories, business glossaries, and data catalogues.
Partner closely with Data Owners and Stewards to support governance initiatives and reinforce accountability frameworks.
Produce regular management reports, governance dashboards, and data quality scorecards for senior stakeholders.
Support the rollout and enhancement of governance technologies, including testing, validation, and implementation activities.
Review and validate data governance requirements as part of system upgrades, new platform implementations, and change initiatives.
Deliver awareness sessions and knowledge-sharing workshops to strengthen data governance culture across the organization.
Prepare audit trails, documentation, and supporting evidence for regulatory reviews, compliance checks, and internal audits.
Candidate Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Minimum 7–8 years of experience in data management, analytics, or enterprise data functions.
At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience in data governance, preferably within banking, financial services, or a regulated environment.
Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data quality principles.
Solid understanding of data lifecycle management, lineage mapping, and end-to-end data flows.
Practical experience with data cataloguing platforms, metadata repositories, and data quality monitoring tools.
Proven ability to manage data-related issues, coordinate remediation, and support governance operating models.
Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working across business and IT teams.
Exposure to audit, compliance, and regulatory reporting processes is advantageous.
Professional certifications in data governance or data management (such as CDMP, DCAM, or equivalent) would be beneficial.
